'Mary Did You Know' Rascal Flatts Video

(Getty Images)more pics » Jay DeMarcus (Getty Images) Rascal Flatts brought down the house last night in the CMA Country Christmas special with their emotional rendition of "Mary Did You Know?" The guys belted out the Christmas song during the TV special.

The song actually has been performed by many other talented artists since it was written in 1984 by Mark Lowry, who wrote the song for the Christmas tree choir presentation at his church. Michael English recorded the first version in 1992.

After that, country artist Kathy Mattea recorded the song for her Christmas album in 1993. Later, a duet version of Wynonna Judd and Kenny Rogers did quite well on the Billboard charts when it debuted in 1997. Most recently, American Idol alum Clay Aiken tackled the tune for his holiday album. Now the guys of Rascal Flatts have made their mark on the song's history.
