Jaime Lannister made a near-fatal mistake on Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones, "The Spoils of War."
After Maester Qyburn's giant bow-and-arrow system (otherwise known as the Scorpion) successfully speared Drogon's shoulder with Bronn at its helm, Daenerys' dragon was forced to land on the battle field.
In a moment of pure recklessness, Jaime charged Daenerys as she attempted to remove the spear. Perhaps it was his lack of education on the mighty beasts, or maybe he was overly enticed by rage and opportunity, but it didn't take long for Drogon to unleash a molten-hot breath of fire in his direction.
Thankfully for Jaime, Bronn was present for the boss man's stupidity, knocking the Lannister out of Drogon's trajectory seconds before the fire reached them.
The moment was fleeting, and many viewers found themselves questioning the identity of Jaime's savior.
While there was some speculation that young Dickon Tarly was Jaime's knight in blazing armor, it was indeed Bronn who saved the day.
The episode ended with Jaime sinking to the bottom of the lake. It's currently unclear if he'll make it to episode 5 alive, although we're betting Daenerys wouldn't let Cersei's lover die when she could use him as a major bargaining chip.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO August 13, 2017.
