Disney is prepping its own live-action Beauty and the Beast (starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens) for 2017 but, in the meantime, there's another version of the classic Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont tale for fairy tale fans to get excited about. Writer/director Christophe Gans' film was released in France in 2014, but it's now coming to the States on September 23.
Starring Léa Seydoux as Belle and Vincent Cassel as Beast, Gans' aesthetic is no Disney trip. The man behind Brotherhood of the Wolf and Silent Hill seems to borrow a little from Guillermo Del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth) for the look of his Beauty and the Beast, but Gans has always had those fantasy horror instincts. Check out the trailer below, it's an overload of wild imagery.
