When you're sitting on the #1 show on television (among adults 18-49), you know you must be doing something right — so why not double down? AMC announced they've placed an initial two-season order for The Walking Dead companion series because, let's face it, we'll all probably be tuning in, right? Out of curiosity, out of morbid fascination, out of obsession with all things that go bump, bump, braiiiiiinnnnssss in the night...
One reason to trust that the companion series will be awesome? Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead comic book series, is heavily involved. He's executive producing and writing for the show (which, no, still doesn't have an official title yet.)
"We feel empowered by this two-season commitment, a serious show of faith from our network partner AMC,” Kirkman said in a statement. “I personally take it as a sign that they believe, like we do, that we've accomplished our goal of developing something original that can pay tribute to the original show and expand the world I created while at the same time having something new to say with this story."
So far, Cliff Curtis (Gang Related), Kim Dickens (Gone Girl), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), and Alycia Debnam Carey (The 100) have been confirmed to star. Read more about their roles here!
The Walking Dead companion series will air on AMC in late summer. Will you be tuning in?
