Linda deserved better. Am I right, or am I right?
Blue Bloods fans were shocked by Linda’s hasty and poorly handled exit. Not only was Amy Carlson’s beloved character killed off-screen, but her barely mentioned send-off was a total slap in the face. Interestingly, the decision to kill Linda comes on the heels of Carlson fulfilling her seven-year contract on the CBS drama.
In a new interview with Deadline, Carlson finally expressed the sloppy manner in which Linda’s exit was unveiled on-screen, and that she would be open to coming back in a flashback sequence to give fans and her character a proper ending.
“I think it’s been hard on the fans. I never wanted it to end that way, so I feel sad for the fans because everyone wants closure, and I hear that a lot from the fans,” Carlson stated.
When asked what she thought of the way Linda was written off, Carlson was quick to express her shock and sadness. “I feel badly that she dies the way she dies. I did not know they would do that, I was surprised,” revealed Carlson. “I wouldn’t have done that.”
If given the chance, Carlson would have written Linda off in much different manner.
“I could’ve shown the death,” she explained. “I guess It would’ve been nice for the fans to see her demise, to be a participant in it, and that was my vote for the fans. I’m not sure how I would’ve chosen it but I just know that for the fans to have a way to grieve, to move through it, I think it would’ve been nice for them. That’s just what I hear from them all the time, ‘we really want you to come back’, and I’m like, that’s impossible. But they also say we wish we could’ve mourned the character.”
