Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli
is not quite as popular as one would expect in her native Israel. In 2007, the 24-year-old was accused of marrying a family friend (whom she subsequently divorced) to avoid mandatory military service in the Israeli Defense Forces. Now, it has been revealed that Refaeli has applied for registration as a non-resident in Israel — presumably to avoid paying taxes.
Now the model faces a potential boycott of the many products she endorses, including popular Israeli brand Fox. Major General Avi Zamir spoke out against Refaeli, saying, We are a society that has an army, and Bar Refaeli doesn't have to participate in ads for Fox and, if she advertises Fox, then you shouldn't buy their products."
Refaeli avoided a boycott in 2007 by agreeing to visit injured IDF soldiers.
