Today's graphic breaks down the hugely anticipated new Godzilla movie from director Gareth Edwards, who's gone to great lengths to make a movie that stays true to the monster's Toho roots. Long-time fans turned against the 1998 Godzilla movie starring Matthew Broderick, with the original Toho studio even summarily killing off the American version of the monster (dubbed "Zilla") in Godzilla: Final Wars. For his part, Edwards wanted to make a movie that would be embraced by both American and Japanese fans. To that end, he made his movie's monster structurally more similar to the original Godzilla, standing upright, with back spines, and a head, that recall the earlier on-screen titan. Notably, the new movie straddles the Pacific, with bits taking place in Japan and Hawaii before moving to San Francisco. Check out the graphic below for the full breakdown.
