For fans of The Amazing Spider-Man, Friday's news that Tom Hardy will be the new Eddie Brock AKA Venom is exciting stuff. Venom, who made his debut in Amazing Spider-Man #300 in 1988, has long been one of the Web Slinger's most formidable enemies.

Venom's black suit is actually a tar-like, alien Symbiote that can take any form. Originally brought to Earth by Spider-Man (Spidey's black suit), Peter Parker rejects the Symbiote in the comic and it attaches itself to reporter Eddie Brock. Tapping into Brock's dark side, the two become Venom and wreak havoc on Spidey. Venom is a physical specimen so it's only right someone with Hardy's immense physicality bring him to screen (sorry, Topher Grace, you were the wrong choice). Hardy, after all, did play Bane, one of the most musclebound comic book villains.

While Hardy is the perfect choice for Venom, there's another alien Symbiote from the comics who's more more vicious and lethal: Carnage.

Now, there are no rumors of Carnage appearing in the new Venom movie, but we're all about speculating over here. The two appear in the comics together and are very similar characters. What if Carnage becomes a part of this new film? Who would play him?

Casting Carnage begins with the look. In the comics, Carnage is the result of another alien Symbiote merging with serial killer Cletus Kasady. Kasady is a maniac, first of all, so whoever plays him must be able to tap into immense evil. Second, Kasady is thin, muscular, and has curly red hair. He's very distinctive looking and he has a wicked sense of humor. Here's who we think might be able to pull it off:

Eddie Redmayne - He went full evil in Jupiter Ascending so we know he's got it in him. The Oscar-winner is one of the most talented actors alive. He also looks the part although he'd have to bulk up. Everyone has to bulk up for comic book movies.

Adrien Brody - Long and tall, Brody has the physicality for the role as well as plenty of experience playing villains. Dye his hair and throw him out there, he'd kill it.

Damian Lewis - The Homeland and Billions star might have the best face for Carnage. He's much better-looking than Kasady, however, who has a long horse-face in the comic. Lewis is a strong, confident actor who would bring credibility.

Matthew McConaughey - He's shown in recent years he has the guts to take challenging roles and the talent to pull them off. McConaughey is a very physical actor and he's risky enough to go wild with a role like Carnage. He might be the best choice based on unpredictability alone.

Will Ferrell - Don't laugh, Ferrell played Mugatu, one of the great villains of our time, in Zoolander. Seriously, he'd be an insane choice but a great one. Yes, he'd have to slim down and get serious, but Ferrell could do it. His resting pissed off face is one of the best. We'd pay money to watch him scream at Hardy.

Timothy Simons - If you don't watch Veep, you may not recognize Simons, who's one of the tallest actors working today. His length makes him a candidate and he'd be great handling Carnage's nasty personality. Can he be evil? Oh yes.

Jackie Earle Haley - He's busy making The Tick for TV right now and he'd have to wear a great wig, but there are few that fit the serial killer mold better than Haley. We're sure he's a great guy, but he looks evil on his best days and would be an intimidating selection.

Brad Dourif - Twenty years ago, Dourif would've been the choice hands down. He's one of the great ballistic actors of all-time and the man behind dozens of weird characters including Hazel Motes, Piter De Vries, and Grima Wormtongue. He also voiced Chucky in the Child's Play movies. He's probably too old now at 67, but he could handle Carnage in a small role with no huge stunts.

Norman Reedus - The Walking Dead star definitely has the scowl for the role, but he'd have to cut his signature hair and dye it red. No bets on if he'd do that, but fans would flock to see him in the part.

Jim Carrey - Personally, I've always wanted to see him in another comic book movie that isn't Batman Forever. He's long and spindly and would be insane. We all know what Carrey can do. Plus, he could use a high-profile villain to sink his teeth into. Hollywood apparently doesn't know what to do with him.
