With the It remake due in theaters next year, producers haven't been shy at all about showing off what their killer clown will look like on the big screen. Played by Bill Skarsgard, this take on Pennywise has a far more old-timey feel that walks a line of aaaaalllmost being something you'd see on an episode of American Horror Story. And we know that now because the first full-length image of the monster has been published by Entertainment Weekly along with a detailed interview with the costume designer Janie Bryant.
"The costume definitely incorporates all these otherworldly past lives, if you will," Bryant said. "He is definitely a clown from a different time."
So this Pennywise certainly looks vicious enough to eat children who wander too near the storm drain. But we're still waiting for the trailer to see what director Andrés Muschietti (Mama) will bring to the table in terms of tone.
For his part, Muschietti has been publishing snapshots of the art direction going into the movie to give his Instagram followers a sneak peek. Here are a few highlights:
