What Spice Girls fans want — what we really really want — is another Spice Girls reunion tour, and it might finally be happening... no matter what Posh Spice says.

Only '90s kids will recall the sheer joy of watching Spice World, a film which was to the Spice Girls what A Hard Day's Night was to the Beatles. Now, some 20-plus (yes, 20!) years since the movie's debut, the Spice Girls have reunited — and might even be planning a reunion tour. Earlier in the year, Mel B (formerly known as "Scary Spice") let slip that the band had reunited with manager Simon Fuller. There was a hint of spice in the air, but nothing confirmed. Then, on Wednesday, June 27, an exciting update was delivered courtesy of the Today show: The Spice Girls are in the planning stages of a reunion tour.

Fans have obsessed over a Spice Force Five reunion for the past decade, around the time the group toured last. Seriously, you could set your watch by how often reunion rumors have plagued the group. From fraudulent Facebook events to everyday gossip, the news of a fresh start seemed likely to break any second. And here we are! I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want: a confirmation that this tour is happening... plus dates, times, and a link to purchase tickets in advance. I know I'm not the only one!

Per Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham's publicist, the band said they're "always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for the Spice Girls," and that "the time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together." When Today's Kathie Lee and Hoda pointed out to Mel B that Posh has a history of nixing reunion rumors, she sounded a little exasperated — but excited, too. "She's always bloody saying that," the singer joked. "Stop it! We are touring!"

And so, it's officially time to freak out! When I saw the band back in 2007, it was magical. Watching the Spice Girls in my hometown as a teenager was just beyond description. I didn't even care that I was with my parents and sister while other people from my high school were chillin' solo, because we were all so excited for the show. From what I remember, the girls sold out the arena, and played a surprisingly long (and thorough!) set for a weeknight. It was indescribable to finally see the band that inspired me as a kid — a band I bonded with my mom and sister over, had so much merchandise of, and whose movie I watched every day. I even dressed up as them with my friends.

Best of all, they totally delivered. Toward the end of the concert, they performed the song "Mama," and had sweet images of themselves and their mothers projected onto a large screen behind the stage. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Ever since the Spice Girls faded from the airwaves, a few members have flown under the radar while others stayed front and center. Posh's high-profile marriage to soccer star, David Beckham, morphed into a full-on empire. They have gorgeous children, wildly successful clothing lines, and even received an invite to the Royal WeddingEmma "Baby Spice" Bunton continued to act on occasion, and Mel "Sporty Spice" C had a solo music career. Geri "Ginger Spice" Horner (formerly Halliwell) stayed active in the entertainment industry, but found her real passion was writing children's books. And of course, Mel B is a judge on America's Got Talent. None of them ever officially retired from being a Spice Girl. They just hung up their Little Gucci Dresses and Union Jack-patterned platform boots until the time was right.

If the Spice Girls reunion tour actually materializes, it will be life-changing for all OG fans. Their audience is still here for them, and the market wants a Spice Girls tour badly enough to make one up almost every year. If they went on a global reunion tour, it would be so inspiring — they're well into their forties and have busy lives and jobs outside of performing. How many girl groups have come back to kick butt 10 to 20 years after their heydays? Not enough, in my opinion.

This could be a big opportunity for today's pop stars as well. If the Spice Girls took Dua Lipa, Carly Rae Jepsen, or Ariana Grande on tour with them, it would be an unstoppable show. The sets! The costumes! The girl power! Bonding between pop fans of all ages!

Zig-ah-zig-ahhhh, please let them announce tour dates soon. Also, let's hope Mel B keeps doing interviews. I'd love to hear what news she accidentally on purpose drops next.
