Three days following the death of her ex-husband Anthony Bourdain, Ottavia Busia broke her silence last night when she posted an Instagram photo of their 11-year-old daughter Ariane.
Ariane was performing at a New York music venue, clad in a pair of killer boots Bourdain had apparently gifted her. Just a few days after losing her father to suicide, Busia praised her young daughter for her show of strength and bravery.
If you're not misty-eyed already, Busia then addressed Bourdain, writing, "I hope you are having a good trip, wherever you are." Well said, indeed.
The couple was married in 2007 and welcomed Ariane, their first and only child, that same year. After separating in 2016, the couple filed for divorce in 2017, but by all accounts the split was amicable.
"My wife and I live, have lived, very separate lives for years," Bourdain told People in September 2016. "There’s no drama here. We get along really, really well and it’s not a big lifestyle change happening here."
Asia Argento, Bourdain's girlfriend of over a year, also took to social media to pay tribute to the late chef and TV host, noting his "brilliant, fearless spirit."
It was indeed Bourdain's restless, empathetic energy which endeared him to so many.
