Just two months after Beyoncé ruined Coachella for every future headliner, the songstress and her husband, Jay-Z, have made history again. Following in their own footsteps, they dropped a surprise album on Saturday, June 16. Unlike 2016's Lemonade or last year's mega-hit, 4:44, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have dropped their first ever joint album called Everything Is Love. The duo released the new collection not as Jay-Z and Beyoncé, but as "The Carters," which is the first time they've used their married name professionally. The music moguls have released many joint singles together in the past ("Crazy in Love," "Drunk in Love," and "Lift Off," to name a few) but this is their first full-fledged album as a twosome. It's a perfect move, especially following Lemonade and 4:44, which acknowledged the trauma and aftermath of their marital woes.
Everything Is Love is the sonic equivalent of a vow renewal.
Like all their music, this nine song LP is available to stream exclusively on TIDAL. Here's the track list:
07. "HEARD ABOUT US"
08. "BLACK EFFECT"
10. Bonus Track: "SALUD!"
Beyoncé's last two albums debuted as visual albums (every song had an accompanying video), but Everything Is Love is all audio. So far, the only song with a video is "Apeshit."
The video for "Apeshit" was filmed inside The Louvre in Paris, France, which is a perfectly opulent setting for the king and queen of pop music. The video has everything: Queen B with her backup dancers, Bey and Jay looking crazy in love, and fabulous art.
Fun fact: This video was shot last month. We have no idea how they kept all of it secret.
This is a very big year for the couple. Beyoncé headlined Coachella, and Jay and Bey kicked off their world tour earlier this month in the UK. They also unveiled never-before-scene photos of their twins, Rumi and Sir, as well as footage from a secret vow renewal.
The two will take their tour stateside in Cleveland on July 25, 2018. It's anyone's guess if this new music will appear.
Are Bey and Jay going to do everything as a duo now? Because if Everything Is Love is any indication, we're ready to embrace The Carters.
