The Internet Is Upset Chloe Moretz Won't Dye Her Hair Red for 'The Little Mermaid'

Don't be mad at it.

In November, the Internet was abuzz with the news that Chloe Moretz had been tapped to play Ariel in Universal Studios' live-action The Little Mermaid. Despite the project having already lost Sofia Coppola as its director, the casting was still exciting news.

Now details surrounding the "modern revisionist tale" of the film are slowly starting to emerge. For starters, Moretz will not be dyeing her hair red since the film will adapt from Hans Christian Andersen's novel and not the 1989 Disney animated movie. Moretz will stay blonde.

Allow her to explain:

Wait, what? No red hair? But that's okay. We can all look past this little detail for the sake of art and modern storytelling, can't we?

Again, we would like to take a moment to stress that The Little Mermaid IS NOT BASED ON THE DISNEY VERSION. That said, I'm guessing this is probably a good time to mention this:

Man, what a buzzkill.
