(From portlandmonk.com) Christina Hendricks took time out of her busy schedule recently to shoot a trippy music video for the indie-rock duo Broken Bells in which she plays a bionic version of herself traveling the galaxy. The Mad Men actress removes various mechanical parts of her body to pay for the costs of space travel in the new video, which hit the Internet Tuesday.
Broken Bells is comprised of Shins lead singer James Mercer and Gnarls Barkley mastermind Danger Mouse, and the song is called "Ghost Inside." Mercer recently told Entertainment Weekly he couldn't believe Hendricks agreed to be in the video.
Danger Mouse first shot to fame with the Gnarls Barkley hit "Crazy." (Getty Images) "We assumed we would ask and that'd be it," he said. "She's got to be so busy, and who the hell are we? But she said yes! Turns out she's a fan of our record."
Mercer compared the slick special effects and daring look of the video to the duo's song "showing up in a stretch Hummer." While he says it's new territory for him, he's excited about the vid. "Christina Hendricks is in it! It’s sorta scary, but it’s cool,” he said.
This isn't Christina's first music video. In 1998 she appeared in the Everclear video for "One Hit Wonder," directed by Terminator: Salvation's McG.
