The cast of Boy Meets World reunited at the Austin Television Festival over the weekend for a panel that included lots of reminiscing and stories about how the comedy grew to become a beloved fan favorite. But the cast and crew also shared some insights on the upcoming BMW Disney Channel spin-off, Girl Meets World, which is expected to debut sometime in early 2014.

"We've had a very very grateful and gratifying time recently because with the announcement of the new show we were able to hear from you — all over the Internet and in magazine articles — about this show," Boy Meets World creator Michael Jacobs told the packed audience of fans. So what makes now the perfect time for Girl Meets World?

"It's a different world than [Cory] met. I don't see anything on television right now that is speaking to the audience that I have always spoken to and that I care very much about," Jacobs explained. "If we can do it and honor [Boy Meets World] and make it unique because it's a different world — that's a reason to do this show."

Even though Danielle Fishel couldn't make it to the ATX Festival, the BMW panel included a taped interview with the actress, who shared what it's been like working with Ben Savage again on Girl Meets World.

"Reuniting with Ben has been even better than I could have possibly imagined it to be," she gushed. "After being apart for so many years and now working together, I think we were both a little nervous that maybe being Cory and Topanga wouldn't come back as naturally to us, but it totally did. The minute we walked into rehearsals…it was like no time had passed."

Fishel added: "There is something so special about the bond we share. I tell people this, and it sounds a little weird, but it really does feel like he's my husband. He will always be my first husband."

We already know that Cory, Topanga, and Mr. Feeny will be back for Girl Meets World. But is there a possibility that Shawn Hunter could also make an appearance someday? Rider Strong thinks so.

"I feel like I should show up at some point and finish the storyline," the actor told E! on the ATX red carpet. "We've been talking. I just want it to be done right. I really want it to be classy and good. I want it to be something that makes the fans proud."
