Danny DeVito went on Letterman Thursday night and addressed all the stories about him drunkenly assaulting a Philadelphia reporter with his dirty, boozed-up mouth. If you haven't seen the YouTube clip, a seemingly blitzed DeVito gets VERY inappropriate on a live TV spot.
But wait, DeVito says it was all fake beer and the drunk thing was just an act. He was playing his "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" character, Frank, he told David Letterman Thursday.
"In this scene I'm walking down the street with 3 cans of beer in a plastic 6-pack holder and I'm guzzling one of them," DeVito said. "But it's not real beer. It's fake beer because I'm doing like 15, 20 takes. You know, I'm spewing the beer out and I'm burping, and it's all over me."
The man who played the Penguin then stood up and proved that he can do a dead-on impression of Danny DeVito drunk.
It's doubtful this will end the rumors of Danny DeVito's love for fermented beverages. Even if it was all an act, I'd still like to think that somewhere out there, Mr. DeVito is doing his best to make a roomful of respectables uncomfortable with his inappropriately drunken behavior.
