'American Horror Story: Hotel' Just Got the 'Coven' Connection We've Been Waiting for

Queenie made a stop at the Hotel Cortez. Care to guess how that went?

The following article contains spoilers from the January 6 episode of American Horror Story: Hotel, "Battle Royale."

American Horror Story's very own Queenie had a surprise stay at the Hotel Cortez on Wednesday night's episode, "Battle Royale." Given that we haven't reunited with the witch since Coven, it was great to see her again. If you know anything about the show, though, you know this one's title suggests a far grander chain of events.

That's right: Ramona (Angela Bassett) was back with a fiery vengeance.

Eliza-Bye Bye

Contrarily, Lady Gaga's Countess went out not with a bang, but with a sad, sad whisper. After John (Wes Bentley) discovers the last item on his wicked list of sins should be inspired by commandment six "Thou Shall Not Murder," he shoots seasoned murderess Elizabeth and harvests her head. Don't worry, though: just prior, she and Ramona [seemingly] hooked up — more on that later, but she went out well.

Last we'd seen Elizabeth, she'd been valiantly protected by Donovan (Matt Bomer) after Liz Taylor (Denis O'Hare) and Iris (Kathy Bates) went guns a'blazing all over the Cortez matriarch. A very upset Iris, not realizing her son had been with Elizabeth at the time, quickly drags his body outside of the Cortez's boundaries so that he won't be "stuck with her other lovers" after his imminent death. Meanwhile, the Countess escapes, only to be healed by (who else?) Hypodermic Sally (Sarah Paulson).

Reckless Abandon[ment]

As Sally is utilizing her no good, very bad (very convenient) sewing skills to remove the bullets and stop Elizabeth's bleeding, she shares just how she ended up "Hypodermic Sally." Years before, in that very hotel, she'd gotten high enough with the other two partners in her threesome to sew them them all together. Shortly afterward, they both overdosed on her, leaving her stuck with their dead bodies for a solid five days.

Feel better about those abandonment issues yet?

Sally goes on to tell Elizabeth she needs her to ensure John is stuck at the Cortez for eternity. The two of them grab some tiny towheaded children, whose blood the Countess promptly consumes, and she's all back to normal.

Ironically, after Elizabeth follows through and kidnaps John's wife and kids to lure him back, James Patrick March (Evan Peters) manages to influence him to resume sin-collecting. Yup...ultimately, it was Elizabeth who carried out the events leading to her own head being memorialized in the "murder" box.

Queenie for a Day

Liz Taylor and Iris are understandably frantic after unsuccessfully murdering the Countess — so much so that they venture into the secret hallway to free her only viable enemy, Ramona Royale. At this point, Ramona is dead-set on the timely death of the Countess, and needs blood to recuperate for the murder. Conveniently enough, none other than Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe and Coven's resident voodoo doll) shows up right then.

Ramona traps Queenie in her room only to discover that she's [seemingly] unbeatable. But when good old March shows up, he reveals that ghosts are immune to Queenie's abilities. He successfully stabs her to death for Ramona's mid-evening smoothie.

All juiced up, Ramona heads straight to the Countess with the intention of putting an end to her. Instead, they end up making out after Elizabeth reveals that all she wants is to leave the Cortez, never to return.

So much for that, though. The Countess is officially relegated to eternity in the hotel as a ghost.

One guess as to who's pretty damn pleased?
