On Monday night, Bindi Irwin took Dancing with the Stars by storm with her jive to “Crocodile Rock.” The 17 year-old revealed that she joined the reality dance competition to honor her later father, Steve Irwin.

“It was all I could do not to cry!” Irwin told US Weekly about her energetic performance. “We came off stage and I couldn't stop shaking. I couldn't believe it. First of all I couldn't believe we made it through and that my legs didn't fly off with the jive!" she continued.

"But it was really huge," Irwin added. "The audience, the support and love was overwhelming. I'm just blessed beyond words. My family was here watching.” Irwin's mother and younger brother were in the audience cheering her on last night.

Clearly, coping with her father's death has not been easy for Irwin. “I think that people always say when people pass away that time heals all wounds. And that's probably the biggest lie, it's not true. I think we all need to remember that it is always still tough and it's like losing a piece of your heart,” Irwin continued in her interview with US Weekly.

Despite her struggles and inexperience with high heels, Irwin dazzled the judges by earning a 24 out of 30 and tied with Nick Carter for the highest score of the night. Her partner, pro Derek Hough, also revealed that Irwin was humming “Eye of the Tiger” before she went out to perform.

“It's my theme song,” Irwin said to People Magazine. “My dad liked that song. My mum liked that song.”

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba was particularly impressed by the teen's incredible dedication and debut. “If this was 30 years ago, I would want to be your best friend, because your energy was so contagious," Inaba said to Irwin. “The way you attacked every pointed toe was beautiful.”
