Drew Brees. You may have just won a Super Bowl. You may be one of the hottest quarterbacks in the NFL. But you're in for some bad luck.
Drew Brees on the cover of Madden NFL 2011.
That's because Drew Brees was officially announced today as the cover boy for
Madden NFL 2011. The
Madden videogame franchise has been going strong since 1989, and since it began featuring actual NFL players on its cover in 1999, the superstition of a
Madden curse has developed.
Shaun Alexander,
Ray Lewis,
Vince Young and
Marshall Faulk are just some victims of the supposed curse. Much like the
Sports Illustrated jinx, the superstition is that whoever appears on the game's cover will be injured badly sometime soon. But Drew Brees isn't scared. He weighed in on the curse Thursday morning via Twitter.
"Here's what I have to say about the Madden curse: Destiny is more powerful than a curse. Whatever is meant to be will happen. Faith."
Sounds like he's ready to face the next season and get his team back in the playoffs.
