It's the TV series you didn't even know you needed in your life.
More than two years ago, Netflix committed to making a dark comedy starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. Now, the streaming giant has finally offered us a first look at its mysterious and long-awaited series, Maniac.
This 10-episode dark comedy is based on the 2014 Norwegian series of the same name. Maniac revolves around two strangers who become entangled in a mind-bending pharmaceutical trial gone awry. In addition to Stone and Hill, the show boasts an impressive cast that includes Sally Field, Justin Theroux, and Jemima Kirke.
Acclaimed director Cary Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation, True Detective Season 1) directed the highly-anticipated project, and Patrick Somerville (The Leftovers) penned all 10 episodes. Few additional details have been revealed about Maniac, which is no surprise given the hush-hush atmosphere surrounding it.
Maniac marks Stone and Hill's second on-screen collaboration after 2007's runaway hit, Superbad. Netflix has not yet announced a release date for the forthcoming series, but it's expected to drop in late 2018.
Until then, you can check out the first photos from Maniac below. Make sure to hit the comments to discuss whether you'll give this new Netflix series a shot.
