Elisabeth Hasselbeck Offers Tearful Apology After Criticizing Erin Andrews' 'Dancing' Attire

One day after criticizing Erin Andrews' skimpy attire on Dancing with the Stars, Elisabeth Hasselbeck offered an emotional apology to the ESPN broadcaster for hurting her feelings. On Tuesday's show, Elisabeth suggested that Erin's DWTS outfits were particularly inappropriate after her stalker was recently sent to prison for taking peephole videos of her.

"I think in light of what happened … and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room … in some way, if I'm him, I'm like, 'man, I could have just waited 12 weeks' … I could have seen this, a little bit less, without the prison time," she said Tuesday.

The backlash was immediate, with Erin herself admitting that she had shed tears over Elisabeth's offhand comment.

"My biggest complaint is she's a woman and a mother and it was a mockery of something I've lived through this last year," Erin explained Tuesday. "I felt like it was a slap in the face for victims of stalkers and victims of sexual predators."

Elisabeth explained Wednesday that she had called Erin to personally apologize Tuesday after she went home feeling terrible about what she'd said.

"So yesterday, when we're talking about Erin, even though I was focused on the detestable criminal who's behind bars thankfully, who's really made her life a living hell, is in jail, I ended up hurting her." She added, "I'm really sorry and I wanted to offer that publicly too."
