Snow White and the Huntsman
Directed by: Rupert Sanders
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron

The second 2012 reimagining of the classic Snow White fairy tale, this one expands the role of the Huntsman (Hemsworth) tasked with killing Snow White (Stewart), but here he becomes her protector and teacher. The two team up to defeat the Evil Queen (Theron). Admittedly, this movie had one of the best trailers of the year and it looks like a Scott Free production but, alas, it is not. Director Sanders is a first timer, and he's working with a paltry storyline that I can't see him overcoming. That said, there should be enough creatures and style in here to keep the majority of us entertained.
See it? Sure.

Piranha 3DD
Directed by: John Gulager
Starring: Danielle Panabaker, Ving Rhames, David Hasselhoff, Matt Bush

Piranha 3DD will be everything you want it to be... if what you want is another campy knockoff of Jaws. This one goes to Lake Havasu and is in 3D if you're confused by the shameless title.
See it? No.

Battlefield America
Directed by: Chris Stokes
Starring: Marques Houston, Mekia Cox, Christopher Jones, Lynn Whitfield

Yet another chest-puffing, obnoxious dance movie from the team that graced us with You Got Served. Expect a highly stylized corny time with some killer dance moves from kids with way too much swagger.
See it? No.

High School (Limited)
Directed by: John Stalberg
Starring: Matt Bush, Sean Marquette, Adrien Brody, Colin Hanks, Michael Chikilis

HIGH School... get it? Another first-time director brings us a stoner comedy that seemed destined for a straight-to-Blu-ray release, but somehow managed to secure a limited run in theaters. The only reason to see this, as you can see in the clip below, is Adrien Brody and the insanely over-the-top drug dealer he plays. It's always fun to see famous actors smoking weed.
See it? Not unless you're baked.

Hide Away (Limited)
Directed by: Chris Eyre
Starring: Josh Lucas, James Cromwell, Ayelet Zurer

Try not to fall asleep while I explain this plot in a sentence. A wealthy businessman fixes his life by fixing a broken sailboat. Think Life as a House, except... with a boat. As much as I love Lucas, he has a track record of choosing horrible scripts (Sweet Home Alabama, anyone?)
See it? No.

For Greater Glory (Limited)
Directed by: Dean Wright
Starring: Andy Garcia, Eva Longoria, Oscar Isaac, Catalina Sandino Moreno

Immersed in the Cristeros War of the 1920s that saw the Mexican people rebel against their government, this epic (143 minutes) tale is brought to life by visual effects master Dean Wright (Lord of the Rings) in his first foray into directing. The production boasts an impressive cast but the film has not received very nice reviews. Even the trailer seems to plod along, and that's never a good sign.
See it? No.

The Loved Ones (Limited)
Directed by: Sean Byrne
Starring: Xavier Samuel, Robin McLeavy, Victoria Thaine

This prom-centered horror movie looks like bloody fun. Lola is a quiet unassuming girl who asks the BMOC, Brent, to prom, only to get turned down. She gets her revenge, however, as she and her creepy daddy dearest kidnap Brent and have their own little prom, filled with mouth gags and power drills. This Australian film is not rated and reportedly quite grisly so viewer beware, but it looks like the best horror release in some time.
See it? Yes.
