Evan Rachel Wood is providing unimpeachable evidence that some breakups are for the best. Since her split with makeup-happy rocker Marilyn Manson, 40, Wood has slowly lightened up her look, reversing the transformation for sweet starlet to Dita-imitator that puzzled us all.

After Wood, 21, started dating Manson, who was directing her in a horror project, she adopted the style trademarks of his famous ex-wife, burlesque star Dita Von Teese. Suddenly Wood was an afficionado of vintage, pancake makeup, and Joan Crawford eyebrows. She even dyed her hair jet black, just like Von Teese.

She broke up with Manson a couple of months ago (tongues wagged that she was involved with her Wrestler co-star Mickey Rourke) and dyed her hair a strange orangey shade shorty thereafter. At last night's Critics Choice Awards, Rachel finally looked her age once more- beautifully - in a Jasmine Di Milo dress. She really is a lovely girl; it's nice to be able to see that, for once.
