Turns out Maisie Williams is just as ballsy as her Game of Thrones character, Arya Stark.
The Daily Mail posted a series of photos of the young actress at the Summer Masquerade Ball for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, yet the publication made one huge mistake. The headline for the article read: “Unveiled: Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams goes braless in her sheer lace dress and quirky headpiece at charity masquerade ball.”
Um, tacky much?
Of course, Williams was totally offended by the sexist headline and decided to torch it on Twitter. The 19-year-old actress presented an alternative headline to point out the blatant misogyny thrust upon her.
Well played, Lady Stark.
Williams also discussed her thoughts on feminism in an interview last April. “We should stop calling feminists ‘feminists’ and just start calling people who aren’t feminist ‘sexist’ – and then everyone else is just a human. You are either a normal person or a sexist,” she stated. “I sometimes really worry about speaking up about feminist subjects out of fear of being bashed by women on social media. And there’s something not right there…I believe in equality and I know I have more power than the average person to reach people.”
Preach, girl. Preach.
