From Margaret Thatcher to Donald Trump.
Is there any role that the indelible Meryl Streep can't nail? Probably not. The three time Oscar winner went full Donald Trump on Monday night for the 2016 Public Theater Gala in New York City to benefit Free Shakespeare in the Park.
Streep was totally in character as she donned orange makeup along with the Donald's signature, scarce combover. She even sported a fat suit and a low-hanging red tie to complete her hilarious ensemble. With Tony-winner Christine Baranski at her side, Streep treated the crowd to a politically-laced rendition of Cole Porter's Broadway hit Kiss Me, Kate. For her part, Baranski played Hillary Clinton.
“You'll let me know why it is all the women say no,” Streep belted out loud.
“Brush up your Shakespeare and the women will know,” Baranski chimed in. “Just declaim a few lines from Othello, and they'll think you're a hell of a fella.”
Streep and Baranski performed on the same night that Clinton secured her position as the first woman to receive a presidential nomination from a major political party in the U.S.
What do you think of Streep's performance as Donald Trump? Are you impressed or totally not into it?
