When Frank Ocean told the world that much of his debut album channel ORANGE was inspired by his first love, a man, there was at least one person in his camp who wasn't surprised: Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator.
In a recent conversation with Rolling Stone
), Tyler responds to a question about when he knew Frank was "gay" with, "Yeah, I was one of the first people he told. I kinda knew, because he likes Pop Tarts without frosting on them, so I knew something was weird. [Laughs
] But that's my ni**a."
Those who listen to Tyler's music might think he'd have some issues with Frank's sexuality, given his prolific use of the OTHER f-word, but he insists it's just a word to him. "He knows me, and he knows I don't care about being gay. It's just another word to me. The same as "ni**a." Let's say Frank started using the word "fag," just jokingly. People would be so f**king confused! They wouldn't know what to do. And it could take the power out of that word."
