George Hickenlooper Dead at 47

(Getty Images)more pics » George Hickenlooper (Getty Images) George Hickenlooper, the film director best known for his movies like Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse, has died at 47, reports the LA Times. His cousin, Denver mayor John Hickenlooper, said in a statement that he George appears to have died of natural causes.

George was in Denver for the premiere of his latest film Casino Jack, starring Kevin Spacey. John said in a statement: "We are devastated. His passion for life, zeal for people and unquenchable curiosity enriched everyone who had the fortune to know him."

Hickenlooper's other films from over the years include: 2006's Factory Girl, Mayor of the Sunset Strip in 2003, and 2009's Hick Town. He is survived by his wife and their son Charles.
