Giorgio Armani Says More Stuff No One Wants to Hear

Giorgio Armani in Giorgio Armani Speaks At FIT

Considering few people pay much attention to Rome Fashion Week, his remark can't have had too harsh an effect on the exhibitions. If anything, this draws attention to the event. Still, it was a remarkably bitchy thing to say, and came at a horrible time. A chairman of Rome's fashion week, Stefano Dominella, said:
An Italian in Paris should not be discrediting Italian work at a time of economic crisis for fashion and as the biggest catwalk shows get underway in Italy...Armani should be more patriotic. His name is so strong, he should not make provocations of this kind.
He went on to suggest that if Armani wanted to help Rome's fashion cred, he could very easily showcase some of his own designs in Italy's capital and bring the event much-needed press.

This is the second time in the past month that Armani has drawn fire for public comments. In January, he accused Dolce & Gabbana of stealing one of his designs, to which the younger designers replied, "Surely we still have much to learn, but definitely not from him."
