Sylvester Stallone has clearly figured out a formula that works. Getting a bunch of former action stars together to fight some '80s-style evil bad guy in a throwback action picture turned out to be a genius move in The Expendables. And two movies later, Sly's got an established franchise on his hands.
The conceit central to the Expendables ethos is that critics have never been kind to blow-'em-up action movies even when fans have gone nuts for them. So it stands to reason the kinds of actors who show up in Expendables movies wouldn't have very good average scores on review aggregator RottenTomatoes.com. So just to see where things shook out, we went through and averaged all their scores (anything with an RT score was counted, so there are a few weird things in there) to see how they ranked.
A few notes: These scores were gathered Thursday morning while the Rotten Tomatoes score for The Expendables was still changing a little as reviews came in. Also, a couple of the actors in The Expendables only have a handful of titles to their name. Randy Couture has been in seven (three of them Expendables titles), and this is the first feature movie for both Victor Ortiz and MMA fighter Ronda Rousey.
Here are the rankings.
