Hope Solo (Pacific Coast News) The women of the USA Women's Soccer Team paid a visit to the Good Morning America studios on Tuesday morning, happily signing autographs for fans gathered near the entrance.
Among the players was Hope Solo, the 5'9" Washington native who kept an impressive number of goals from happening. Perhaps more impressive: Solo made the switch to the goalkeeper position in college, after years of playing forward.
Solo told ESPN that she was proud of her team's silver medal finish, explaining, "We did have the American fighting spirit. [Playing in front of more than 60,000] people, the pressure can mount, the media coverage. Yet we played our best game. We were attacking, we had opportunities on the goal, we played beautiful soccer—like the game is meant to be played—in the final."
