David Bowie passed away Sunday, just two days after his 69th birthday. Despite his long-time battle with cancer, the news came as surprise to fans, who initially took the announcement as a hoax. But followers of both Bowie and his wife, model Iman, may have had prior inclination that something was amiss.
On January 8, two days before, she'd reposted a tribute to Bowie, the caption reading "i will love you til i die, i will see you in the sky #tonight" happy birthday mr. bowie."
Less than eight hours later, she shared a telling quote.
That evening, she offered up a throwback of Bowie in his prime.
And, finally, on the morning of the announcement, a sentiment indicating her present state of mind.
The 60-year-old Somalian-American supermodel married Bowie in 1992. The two share one daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones, and two respective children from former relationships, Zulekha Haywood and Duncan Jones.
Their own 25-year relationship seemed nothing more than magical, Iman sharing in '14 that she loved Bowie for who he was underneath the stardom:
"I fell in love with David Jones. Bowie is just a persona. He's a singer, an entertainer. David Jones is a man I met."
All our thoughts are with Bowie's family at this tragic time.
