Talk about a pineapple-sized dilemma!
Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let's go over some good news and some bad news. For starters, there will, in fact, be a sequel to last December's wildly entertaining Psych: The Movie. The project is in early stages of development at USA Network and Universal Cable Productions. Now, for the bad news: The movie is currently on hold.
Talks were underway to potentially shoot another Psych movie later this year, but scheduling conflicts with James Roday and Dule Hill have halted the project. The nacho loving, blueberry busting duo have been busier than ever since starring on the hit USA Network series together. Roday will star in the forthcoming ABC drama A Million Little Things, while Hill has been promoted to a series regular on Suits.
Despite this bump in the road, interest in another Psych movie is still very much there from both USA and UCP. If a production window opens up with the main players on board, then the sequel should be green-lit easily. (Here's hoping we'll get to see more of Lassie this time around!)
Last summer at Comic-Con, both Roday and Hill expressed their desire for a follow-up and then some. "If [series creator] Steve Franks has his druthers it will be an annual thing until we're all living in assisted living," Roday quipped.
"As long as the Psychos have a yearning for it and a desire for it, we'd be down to keep delivering them," added Hill.
From one psycho to another, I'm game for all things Shawn and Gus till the end of time. #Psych4eva
