Come on in, the water's fine. The first image from the standalone Aquaman movie hit the web on Thursday, stirring the thirst of the masses and bringing renewed meaning to an otherwise mundane afternoon. While Justice League also featured the water-dwelling hero (also known as Arthur Curry), it seems Warner Bros. has given Jason Momoa's character an upgrade of the muscle variety since the film's release.
Brought to you by the good people of EW, Momoa is seen in the pic shirtless while emerging from a cloud of steam. Tattooed and dewy, he sports his token jewelry as he frowns forward.
Director James Wan told the site Aquaman would depart from Justice League in many ways:
"It’s going to look very different, it will feel very different — aesthetically, tonally, story-wise — it’s my own take," he said. "It’s a much more a traditional action-adventure quest movie."
For research and comparison purposes, here are a few pics of Justice League's version of Aquaman:
Aquaman is slated to hit theaters December 21, 2018.
