Joan Rivers Still Thinks It's Funny to Make Fun of Adele's Weight

When you're old, you have a certain license to say inappropriate things, and when you're a comic, you assume you can say whatever you want in the name of comedy. Joan Rivers is really cashing in in both departments, and Adele is the innocent bystander caught in the crossfire.

It started following the Oscars when Rivers went on Letterman and thought it would be a good idea to lob a series of tasteless fat jokes Adele's way. If you missed it:

Not only did Rivers not have the sense to apologize, she kept piling on. In a live interview with HuffPo last Friday, she continued to lob cheap shots Adele's way. "It's not mean. She's a chubby lady who's very, very rich, and she should just calm down — or lose weight! She wanted an apology, so I took an ad out on her ass. I said, 'You are not fat.' And then I had room for a lot of other ads," Rivers quipped. "Adele is beautiful and successful and has what, $100 million? Let's face reality: she's fat!"

If you're going to make lazy fat jokes, fine. But they should at least be funny, and they should at least come at the expense of something relevant or someone who's asking for it. Rivers obviously doesn't get it.
