In a behind-the-scenes reel for Stars Wars: The Last Jedi released during Disney's D23 Expo on Saturday, Carrie Fisher is seen filming her last project, laughing with old friends, and discussing the importance of family.
Director Rian Johnson debuted the footage, which also includes Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Billie Lourd, John Boyega, and George Lucas. In addition to the upcoming film's human talent, fans get their first glimpse at some of the production's new creatures. Spoiler alert: they're cute. Really cute.
The footage does its part to drum up excitement for the movie, featuring the making of several action-packed scenes, but watching is a bittersweet experience. In the final few moments, Fisher can be seen speaking candidly in her Princess Leia costume.
"It's about family, and that's what so powerful about it," she says.
The Last Jedi is set to hit theaters December 15, 2017.
