We suppose it's an inspirational story, of sorts. Professional golfer John Daly's
weight loss is apparently being pitched as part of a story for the silver screen. Shooting the breeze with reporters outside the Hyatt Regency course where's he's practicing before the Australian PGA, Daly speculated on who could play him in a movie. "I just saw Matt Damon, how he swung a golf club, and I thought if I ever made a movie, I want him to be me," Daly told reporters. "The tough part is who would play me at 290 pounds. Now Kevin James, he's my bud, but he'd be good."
Daly has lost 115 pounds since undergoing lap-band surgery in February. The once-rotund golfer now weighs in at 185 pounds. The weight loss seems to be helping Daly's game. He finished a repsectable 28th last week at the Australian Open, shooting a 71 in the final round.
Daly also took time to defend fellow golfer Tiger Woods, and criticized those who have spoken against Woods. "I'm not too happy with what some of the players have said," Daly said. "Without him our tour would not survive as what it is when Tiger plays. I just hope for him and Elin that they get through it."
