The Roseanne revival premiered on ABC on Tuesday, March 27, and the burning question on fans' minds has finally been answered: How did Dan Conner come back from the dead? True to form, the show addressed his 1997 death in the silliest way.
While the original Roseanne ended with the Conner patriarch (John Goodman) having what seemed to be a fatal heart attack, it now appears it was all a big misunderstanding. As the premiere opened, Roseanne (Roseanne Barr) scared Dan awake as he snoozed with a sleep apnea mask on his face.
"What happened?" he said.
"I thought you were dead!" Roseanne replied.
"I’m sleeping! Why does everybody always think I’m dead?” Dan exclaimed.
“You looked happy. I thought maybe you moved on," Roseanne said.
And there you have it. While Barr has claimed the original series was actually just her character writing her life story, it seems the show has now gone in a very different direction.
