New Teaser Trailer For 'The Conners' Leaves Fans With A Lot Of Questions

So far, the 'Roseanne' spinoff is pretty mysterious.

New Teaser Trailer For 'The Conners' Leaves Fans With A Lot Of Questions
ABC

In late May, Roseanne was yanked from ABC following Roseanne Barr's racist tweets about former Obama senior advisor, Valerie Jarrett. In the early hours of the morning, Barr posted a tweet with Jarrett’s initials and claimed she looked like "the muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby." Less than 24 hours later, ABC president Channing Dungey issued a press release announcing the show's cancellation.

"Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show," it read.

A month later, ABC announced plans for a spinoff focusing on the Conner family sans Roseanne. Details on the series remain shrouded, and we'll be honest, the first promo doesn't help.

The trailer features the iconic Roseanne couch... and no characters.

However, the first image from the set revealed many of Roseanne's stars — including John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, and Laurie Metcalfe — will be back in action.

In the promo video, the words "What's next?" appear, and we have the same question. What will The Conners be like without Barr? As revealed by Goodman (who plays Dan Conner), Roseanne will probably be killed off the show.

"I guess [Dan will] be mopey and sad because his wife’s dead," Goodman said during an interview with The Times.

Funny enough, Dan was also killed off in the original series, but was resurrected for the reboot.

Another question is if The Conners should even be on television. The show is the product of Barr's work, and some viewers wonder if her legacy deserves to be continued.

Catch The Conners October 17 on ABC.
