Weir hasn't been shy about bashing Lysacek, at one point using an appearance on
Chelsea Lately to
suggest that Lysacek wasn't being entirely truthful about his sexual orientation (Lysacek has stated he is straight).
So, during an interview with the
Indianapolis Star, Lysacek decided to unload on Weir, explaining why the figure skater had been left off the "Stars on Ice" tour. "They only hire the best of the best to skate," groused Lysacek. "It would've been hard of them to justify hiring him."
Lysacek also said that Weir was just in it for money. "I think he was really upset because he wanted the financial benefit of the tour."
A clearly regretful Lysacek is now attempting to walk those statements back,
telling Us Weekly he "never should have answered" the interviewer's questions. "Since the Olympics, I've dealt with Johnny's questioning my integrity and sexuality, and I've never spoken out on my own behalf no matter how hurtful those things may have been. I should have known better. Best wishes and congratulations to Johnny as he opens the new season of Ice Theatre of New York. I wish him well in all of his future endeavors."
Seems this feud is on hold -- for now.
