Olympic figure skater and soon-to-be fashion designer Johnny Weir was at New York Fashion Week, sitting front row at the Isaac Mizrahi show.
That's actress Yaya DeCosta on his right and fashion blogger Bryan Boy sitting on his left. And on his shoulder is some jeweled rodent-type accessory. Hopefully Mr. Weir's line will feature similar products!
Weir, we were told, was sick with a cold, which might explain why he doesn't look so happy in the above photo. But fortunately, he's able to pull it together in the name of fashion.
The Spring 2011 season marks the Lincoln Center debut of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which has drawn more than 200,000 visitors to its Bryant Park tents since 1994. The week features all-American and avant-garde creations by such homegrown phenoms as Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors.
Once known as Press Week, New York Fashion Week was founded in 1943 to distract from French fashion during WWII; it was later rebranded Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in 2009. The event is one of four major fashion weeks held twice annually in Paris, London and Milan.
