Last night was a doozy.

If you weren't binge drinking while watching the first Republican debate, you were sobbing through Jon Stewart's final episode ofThe Daily Show

It's truly the end of an era. After 17 years and 18 Emmy awards, the comedian, writer, producer, director, actor, media critic, host, satirist, father, husband, and all-around badass made his triumphant exit from the anchor desk. To help with the star-studded send-off, former Daily Show correspondent and new host of the Late Show Stephen Colbert made a surprise visit to bid his friend a proper adieu.

"You are infuriatingly good at your job," he said between hilarious jabs and heartwarming recollections of the past.

No truer words could have been spoken. Stewart has dominated the arena of political satire with some of the most honest interviews, segments, and tirades in television history. His commitment to calling out political "bullshit" and exposing hypocrisies has been unrivaled by even the most influential of broadcast news organizations. There quite simply is nobody like him.

Check out the full clip of Colbert's speech below and be sure to have the tissues nearby. Trevor Noah, you have some extremely large shoes to fill.
