Amy Schumer is now an Emmy-winner.
The Inside Amy Schumer creator emotionally accepted the award for Outstanding Sketch Series on Sunday night, thanking both her family and makeup artist — a woman who shall surely be showered with praise for giving the star such an on-point smoky eye.
"Man, we all had to get Final Draft once they picked up our show, we didn't own it," she said. "We care so much about this show. First of all, I want to thank Jessi Klein, the head writer, who had a baby, like, ten seconds ago. I almost made a stupid sex talk show that nobody wanted, and she got drunk and told me that I had to follow my dreams and make my dream show.
"Thank you, Comedy Central, all of the suits who represent me. The writers — I love you so much. We've been together, we'll be together two more years. I'm so proud, and this show fights for what we believe in. Oh, please wrap up...
"I know I should have written something down. Thanks all the people who have helped me, and the girl who gave me this, sort of, smoky eye, um...I really love it, and uh, and I want to thank my family. And Dan Powell, I love you so much. I want to thank my sister, who is the only reason I'm alive and breathing, and Kevin Kane. I love you so much!"
Also in the running for the honor was Drunk History, SNL, Key and Peele, and Portlandia.
Another notable comedy win was that of Jon Stewart's now discontinued Daily Show, which wracked up the awards for Outstanding Variety Talk Series, Writing, and Directing for Variety. The show ran for an impressive 16 years, but true to form, Stewart kept the acceptances light and comical.
“I’ve been off of television for six or seven weeks, this is the first applause I’ve heard,” he said. "Thank you so very much. You will never have to see me again.”
