Late night TV is about to get a whole lot less funny.
Jon Stewart has announced that he will be leaving The Daily Show after nearly 16 seasons of hosting the show. There's no word on exactly when the veteran funnyman, who paved the way for fellow comedy newsmen Stephen Colbert and John Oliver, will be leaving, or who might be replacing him.
Stewart revealed his impending retirement from The Daily Show during the taping of today's show, and Comedy Central quickly followed up with an official statement confirming the news:
Stewart took over as host of The Daily Show in 1999 when Craig Kilborn exited the series.
