Kanye West did as Kanye West does during the 2016 MTV VMAs, stealing the night with his infamous speech recipe: philosophy, drama, and just a little crazy.

Shortly before releasing a never-before-seen video clip featuring Teyana Taylor, the "Famous" rapper addressed events both new and old, alluding to pop star Taylor Swift:

"Later tonight, 'Famous' might lose to Beyoncé, but I can't be mad. I'm always asking for Beyoncé to win," he joked, referencing the 2009 VMAs, during which he stole the mic from Swift to sing the praises of the "Formation" singer as Swift was receiving the award for Best Female Video.

A bit later, he acknowledged "Famous," a music video in which the likenesses of nude stars like Swift can be seen in bed with him. According to Swift, West never got her permission to put her likeness in the video, but West and wife Kim Kardashian maintain he spoke to her over the phone, receiving her full support.

"I love all ya'll," he said. "That's why I called her."

He also recited a list of prominent figures in history like Walt Disney and Bill Gates, adding the name "West" to the end of that list.

As previously reported, Swift skipped the VMAs this year because she wasn't nominated. No bother, though. We imagine she's at home watching, reminiscing and looking a little like this:
