Hell is quite lovely, but this Halloween, Winifred Sanderson is partying with the living.
Bette Midler graced the world on Friday by dressing up as her iconic Hocus Pocus role for New York's 2016 Hulaween Party. No word yet on just what juvenile miscreant lit the black flame candle, but be assured, the search is out.
A full 23 years after the film's 1993 release, 70-year-old Midler looked remarkable in a revamped version of the character's fiery red hair, green and purple robes, and toothy yellow grin.
For reference, here's a pic of the original Winifred Sanderson and co.
Even comedienne Kathy Griffin was in attendance, rocking what might just be the most shameless self-promotion we've ever seen.
You do you, girl.
Hocus Pocus earned a forever home in the ranks of must-watch Halloween flicks thanks to Midler's on point performance alongside co-stars Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Despite fans' undying thirst for a sequel, the possibility has failed to interest the movie's stars — until this year. As Zimbio reported in early October, Parker said she would "love" to tackle a second iteration of the classic during an interview with Bravo's Andy Cohen.
"I think we’ve all been fairly vocal about being very keen but that hasn’t created any groundswell of movement," she said. "There’s an old fashioned thing called a warming drawer and it keeps the plates warm so when you serve the main course the food stays warm so I’ve been saying it’s in the warming drawer. That will keep people perplexed."
