For the last 33 years, Academy Awards Eve has been marked by fancy pre-Oscar parties and a more light-hearted event, the Golden Raspberry Awards (the Razzies). The show actually honors the
worst in film from the year. This time around,
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 "won" in seven categories! Sorry Twihards.
The
Robert Pattinson and
Kristen Stewart film was honored in most of the categories, including worst picture. KStew was given worst actress while
Taylor Lautner scored worst supporting actor. Then Lautner and 12-year-old
Mackenzie Foy were deemed worst screen couple. Everyone in the movie was awarded worst screen ensemble. Even director
Bill Condon couldn't escape unscathed, winning worst director.
Though seven prizes is plenty, last year
Adam Sandler won 10 all on his own. This year, he just got two.
Also, it's worth noting that none of these stars were actually present to accept their prizes or thank voters. In fact, Razzies founder John Wilson announced the winners Saturday night from the comfort of the Continental Breakfast Room of the Holiday Inn Express Hollywood Walk of Fame hotel.
At the show, Wilson told journalists about the
Twilight movie: "I believe that rather than 40 million girls who bought tickets, it was four million girls who bought 10 tickets each. That makes me feel better about the American public."
