Filming is officially underway for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot starring Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Melissa McCarthy! Haters gonna hate every Hollywood reboot, but this is one that we're crazy excited for. How could you not be with this cast of incredibly talented and hilarious ladies?
And now we have our first look at the new Ghostbuster girls in character on the Boston set of the film. Producers haven't explicitly said that the new characters will correspond to the characters from the first two Ghostbusters movies, but we're seeing shades of similar archetypes in these photos. What do you think?
And is that a ghost trap we spy in Melissa McCarthy's hands? Sure looks like it!
Director Paul Feig also tweeted out this slimy photo ahead of filming:
According to a report from the Boston Herald, the plot of the new Ghostbusters goes something like this: “[Kristen] Wiig and [Melissa] McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U.... Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.”
The new Ghostbusters, which also stars Chris Hemsworth as a receptionist, is set to hit theaters on July 22, 2016. Are you excited? We ain't afraid of no ghost(busters)!
