The LeBron James Fathead sticker is easily one of the most impressive pieces of sports merch in the company's portfolio, but Fathead owner Dan Gilbert is slashing its price because he apparently thinks LeBron James is a trader. Well no wonder. Dan Gilbert owns the Cleveland Cavaliers. The LeBron James Fathead wall sticker. (From fathead.com)
In a case of very sour grapes, Dan Gilbert
has cut the price of the LeBron James Fathead sticker from $99.99 to $17.41
. Why $17.41? That's the same year Benedict Arnold, America's most infamous traitor, was born.LeBron James
announced Thursday during a one-hour special on ESPN that he would be leaving Cleveland to join the Miami Heat. Shortly after the announcement, Gilbert wrote a scathing open letter to Cavaliers fans, calling LeBron's move a "cowardly betrayal." More on LeBron James:
LeBron said Thursday that he would miss Cleveland. He's an Ohio native whose family was often seen in the front rows of games. It will be a little harder for them to make it to Miami. In a particularly boastful moment in Dan's open letter to fans, he promises fans that LeBron will be sorry he left.
“I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE”
Take that, LeBron.
Now if you happen to be a LeBron fan, and you don't particularly care what team he plays for, it looks like today is your lucky day since you can still buy that LeBron James Fathead sticker for $17.41.In Photos: LeBron James Announces Move to Miami Heat
