A track leaked on YouTube is a legitimate unreleased Michael Jackson song says musical collaborator and rock star in his own right Lenny Kravitz. In a video posted to TwitVid and YouTube Monday, Kravitz confirmed that the one-and-a-half minute song snippet from "Another Day" is from an unreleased and unfinished track featuring himself and Michael Jackson.
The leaked snippet was all over YouTube Monday as Sony scrambled to take it down. The song is an apparent remake of the 2004 Kravitz song "Storm." In the video Kravitz posted Monday, he says he played all the instruments on the track, but remained baffled by the leak.
"As you know and have heard, a part of this song leaked," Kravitz says in the video. "Not by me because mine has been locked up in a vault since we recorded it. The version that's out is a minute and 30 seconds roughly of the track -- not mixed, but it is the track.
"The DJ who's speaking over the track, well I don't know who that person is. I don't know how they obtained it. I don't know what their purpose is. But that person has nothing to do with the track."
Lenny Kravitz posted the video from "the bush." (From TwitVid) Kravitz said he hopes that a finished version of the song will reach the singer's fans sometime in the near future. He showed reverence for the late King of Pop as he described working with him.
"This song was recorded by Michael and myself," he said. "I produced it for him. I wrote the song and I played all the instruments on the track. It was one of the most amazing musical experiences that I've ever had. It was done by two people who had respect for each other and love music."
A YouTube video featuring the snippet is featured below, but don't expect it to work for very long.
