Ever since the promotional images and trailer for the new live-action Cinderella hit the Internet, there has been much speculation about the digital alterations used to achieve Lily James' teeny-tiny waistline. In light of the public outcry, the actress decided to address the controversy head-on in a new interview with the Los Angeles Times.
“I naturally have a really small waist,” the actress said. “The skirt’s big and the corset pulls me in, and that’s the point. That’s the shape [costume designer] Sandy Powell created.”
For all the haters out there, James also had this to say: “I think it’s all very hypocritical, and they contradict themselves, and they’re drawing more attention to it. I think all that stuff’s so negative, and you’ve got to let it wash over your head,” she said adding, “I’m so healthy. I’ve got hips and boobs and a bum and a small waist.”
However, some don't fully agree with James' rationale. Jessica Willingham from Bustle writes:
